This course presents a selection of theoretical and methodological issues concerning collaborative design. Individual and group cognition will be addressed from within two academic communities — the Science of Team Science and the Learning Sciences. Both are multidisciplinary with researchers from different academic traditions:  psychology, health sciences, computer science, information and communication sciences, anthropology, linguistics, etc. You will be asked to annotate and comment on specific digital resources from these communities and these annotations and comments will be discussed in class.

In addition, in order to appreciate the challenges and difficulties of collaborative design and to prepare you for your future work life as a participant in multidisciplinary contexts, you will collaboratively analyze a series of corpora where students simulating the work environment or professionals in the workplace are in some phase of the design process. These corpora will be of different natures:  either on-line interactions or video data with transcriptions of talk.
